Across 10 plans priced in New Jersey, a dehumidifier adds $77.52 to $307.92 a year — $6.46 to $25.66 a month. The median plan puts a dehumidifier at $165.21 a year.

What New Jersey homes use
EIA's 2020 residential survey found 1,125 kWh a year across 139 sampled homes that run one, near the national 999 kWh. The middle half spans 404 kWh to 1,631 kWh, so a dehumidifier varies by 1,227 kWh between one household and another.

Light and heavy use of a dehumidifier
A household in the lighter quarter runs a dehumidifier for 404 kWh a year and pays $27.82 on the cheapest plan. One in the heavier quarter runs it for 1,631 kWh and pays $112.38 — $84.56 more for a dehumidifier on the same tariff.
