What it costs to run an appliance
Not a wattage multiplied by a guess at how long you use it. Each figure prices what the EIA’s residential survey measured households actually consuming, on top of the rest of their bill, against the published tariffs in their state.
Drawn from 18,496 surveyed households (EIA Residential Energy Consumption Survey 2020, retrieved September 2, 2026). A state figure appears only where at least 30 of them run that appliance on electricity; below that it is left out rather than filled in from a national average.
