Across 115 plans priced in California, ceiling fans adds $21.60 to $72.78 a year — $1.80 to $6.07 a month. The median plan puts ceiling fans at $53.50 a year.

What California homes use
EIA's 2020 residential survey found 140 kWh a year across 733 sampled homes that run one, 38% under the national 227 kWh. The middle half spans 29 kWh to 177 kWh, so ceiling fans varies by 148 kWh between one household and another.

Light and heavy use of ceiling fans
A household in the lighter quarter runs ceiling fans for 29 kWh a year and pays $4.44 on the cheapest plan. One in the heavier quarter runs it for 177 kWh and pays $27.24 — $22.80 more for ceiling fans on the same tariff.
